Kim Mullican

So you think you want to get to know me?
In short, I’m a chronically sarcastic coffee addict who writes for fun. I hope to make it big – and to me that means making enough to write for a living. I could care less about being rich and famous. Most days for me seem like this:

though I maintain the best attitude I can muster at all times.

My husband calls me Kim Vila as I’m always working on our house. I generally do not tell people what I do for a living. It’s not that it’s super secret, or so juicy that one would picture me in leather chaps with a whip in my hand. It’s just that when I tell those what I do, this is the image that’s conjured in their minds . . .
because I sell cars for a living. I mean really, who wants to be friends with the car guy? Anyone?
I began blogging to build my platform as I am attempting to get my books published. You can find my blog here. I try to make each entry entertaining, though “entertaining” is subjective. I’m crass, a little vulgar and a little kooky. I hope you all enjoy!

"An image IS worth a thousand words, but in blogging you must say what it is you mean to get across. Images don't always work. Links to image urls fail. And if you rely on an image, the blog post highlights your failure as a writer to convey a message.

Work on your writing more and rely less on an image to do the work for you.

I would also recommend working on your conversational tone. While you do want people to connect with you and feel at ease, you don't want to be so informal that they discount what you are saying.

We did get a feel about you from the post, but it did not feel like your best work."

"I agree with Allison here. You 'completed the assignment' but there wasn't much of a wow-factor. If I was Simon, and this was American Idol, I would equate this to someone singing karaoke in a dive bar. Not to say that you CAN'T write well... otherwise you wouldn't be here. But this is way below the quality of writing that we saw in your audition. "

"I guess I will be the Simon straight up for this one. While I did get a little feel for who you are, the content was hard to focus on from the get go.

Breaking up paragraphs and sentences with images is a huge turn off. It makes me want to skip through and just look at the pictures.

As for the tone of the post, it seemed more like you were putting yourself down rather than making a friendly introduction.

Way off from the first post I saw. "
